conceived by Gené Fouché and Tad Janes
What is beauty as known and experienced through, say, women? Is it a corset tightening the waist and shortening the breath? A binding of feet to delicately cripple into a perfect size? Larger breasts? Porcelain skin? Or could beauty be understood and exist on a deeper level? A woman's self-possession and self-confidence in the face of adversity? Respect for herself through self-knowledge and self-love? The MET ensemble will contemplate these and other philosophical, psychological, sociological, commercial and political interpretations of beauty. This original performance will explore this ageless debate through music, dance, poetry and prose for a compelling analysis and appreciation for men and women alike.
