SUMMER THEATRE CAMP

At FunCamp 2012, depending on the age group and session, students will work on projects that may include acting technique, playwriting, voice & movement for the stage, singing, choreography, improvisation, make-up, costume, set and prop design that develop into a “Final Performance”. Students are asked to wear comfortable clothes and shoes they can move in. Students should bring a lunch with them each day.

Creating Theatre (ages 7-11):

Students taking this camp will explore all aspects of theatre including acting, voice, movement, make-up, costume, set and prop design. The goal is to learn about all of the elements of a stage production and how they are brought to life onstage. This two-week camp culminates in a final performance by the young actors on the MET Mainstage.

Musical Theatre Project (ages 12-16):

Students taking this camp will explore the three basic elements of musical theatre: acting, singing and dancing. The goal is to learn and strengthen technique to become a confident ‘triple threat’. This two-week camp culminates in a musical theatre performance by the young actors on the MET Mainstage.

Performance Intensive (ages 12-16):

Under the guidance of our seasoned professionals, students taking this camp will use MET’s ensemble based exercises to create an original theatre piece. The Performance Project Intensive explores acting, voice, movement and playwriting techniques that shape all of MET’s original work. This two-week camp culminates in a performance by the young actors on the MET Mainstage.

Improv Intensive (ages 12-16):

Students taking this camp will use basic improv exercises, stand-up comedy techniques and scene work to learn how to write and create an original comedy show. This two-week camp culminates in a performance by the young actors in the style of Second City and Saturday Night Live.
