Classes begin the week of September 12!

New classes begin the week of September 12 and run for 10 weeks.

Classes are now being held in person, with the exception of those that are listed as ONLINE.

MET does not require the use of face masks at this time, however, they are strongly encouraged. MET reserves the right to adjust this policy as community cases rise.

The Ensemble School does not provide refunds, partial or full. Credits may be issued to qualifying students if the registrar is notified in writing no later than fourteen (14) business days before the beginning of the scheduled class.  Click here for more information on our policies and procedures.

ADULT CLASSES

Adult Acting  • Scene Study

 Tuesdays beginning September 13 •  6:00-7:30pm • $210

Instructor: Jeremy Myers

This course will explore core concepts in understanding the actor’s process. Scene study will incorporate script analysis and research, along with characterization, to assist students in preparing for any role. This course will also focus on character analysis and character development.

Adult Improv 101

Tuesdays beginning September 13 •  7:30-9:00pm • $210

Instructor: Laura Stark

Learn the basics of Improv in this foundation class. Students will learn to use “yes – and”, playing at the top of their intelligence, active listening and support to create improvised scenes. Students will also learn basic short form improvisation games and how to use improv as a tool in their professional lives

Adult Improv 201 

 Tuesdays beginning September 13 •  7:30-9:00pm • $210

Instructor: James McGarvey

(Improv 101 or equivalent required – please email registrar@marylandensemble.org if you have questions regarding placement) Students will take the basics of improv to start to build scenes, explore characters and focus on object work. Long form improvisation will be introduced and more complex short form games will be taught.

TEEN CLASSES

Ages 13 – 17 • Teen Acting 

 Wednesdays beginning September 14 • 5:30-7:00pm • $210

Instructor: Julie Herber

Ages 13 – 17 • Teen Improv 

  Wednesdays beginning September 14 •  4:30-5:30pm • $150

An hour of short and long form improv games and scenes that encourage on-the-spot thinking, creativity and fun! This class has a rotating curriculum, so returning students will continue to be challenged.


 

YOUTH CLASSES

Ages 7-9 • Acting Out!

 Mondays beginning September 12 •  4:30-5:30pm • $150

Instructor: Molly Parchment

Students will stimulate their imaginations with theatre games and exercises that build self confidence and encourage the creative mind. Children’s literature will serve as a foundation for introducing character and analysis. This class has a rotating curriculum, so returning students will continue to be challenged.

Ages 10-12 Performance Skills 

 Mondays beginning September 12 •  5:45-6:45pm • $150

Instructor: Molly Parchment

Students will use improv, scene work, vocal techniques and explore ensemble-based movement to create realistic acting within an ensemble structure. This class has a rotating curriculum, so returning students will continue to be challenged.
