"You'll shoot your eye out." "You'll shoot your eye out." "You'll shoot your eye out." But Ralphie Parker turns a deaf ear to these persistent warnings from adults and children alike. With his entire 9-year-old heart, he wants the legendary official Red Ryder 200-Shot Carbine Action Range Model Air Rifle with a compass and this thing that tells time built right into the stock. And Christmas makes the prime opportunity to flood his mother and father with promotional material on this BB gun and to cast his chips with the big guy, Santa Claus. The tenacious Ralphie fantasizes about the adventures he and his friends will embark on with this gift, while the holiday traditions of searching for a Christmas tree and buying gifts for loved ones occur. Accenting this humorous family play are the father's prize of a large lamp shaped like a leg; brother Randy's propensity to hide in and around anything; and the mother's ability to answer all contest questions correctly.
