Classes begin the week of September 8 (Monday classes begin September 14 due to Labor Day.)

New classes begin the week of September 8 and run for 12 weeks.  The best way to register is by doing so online. Due to Covid19, our office has very limited hours. Please email contact@marylandensemble.org rather than calling to get a timely response.

ADULT CLASSES

Adult Acting • Scene Study

This course will explore core concepts in understanding the actor’s process. Scene study will incorporate script analysis and research, along with characterization, to assist students in preparing for any role. This course will also focus on audition preparation. There will be a mixture of online activities, coaching sessions and offline activities for this class.

Adult Improv 101

Learn the basics of Improv in this foundation class. Students will learn to use “yes – and”, playing at the top of their intelligence, active listening and support to create improvised scenes. Students will also learn basic short form improvisation games and how to use improv as a tool in their professional lives. All activities will happen online synchronously.

Adult Improv 201

(Improv 101 required) Students will take the basics of improv to start to build scenes, explore characters and focus on object work. Long form improvisation will be introduced and more complex short form games will be taught. All activities will happen online synchronously.

Adult Writing for Stage & Screen

This online course provides aspiring playwrights/screenwriters with the skills to develop stories through solid plot structure and compelling, original characters. A combination of online lectures, hands-on exercises, workshops of early script drafts, and one-on-one consultations with the instructor empowers students to write a stage or screen play.

TEEN CLASSES

Ages 13 – 17 • Teen Improv

An hour of short and long form improv games and scenes that encourage on-the-spot thinking, creativity and fun! This class has a rotating curriculum, so returning students will continue to be challenged. All activities will happen online synchronously.

Ages 13-17 • Teen Acting

Students will stimulate their imaginations with theatre games and exercises that build self confidence and encourage the creative mind. Children’s literature will serve as a foundation for introducing character and analysis. This class has a rotating curriculum, so returning students will continue to be challenged. There will be a mixture of online activities, coaching sessions and offline activities for this class.

Students will use improv, scene work, vocal techniques and explore ensemble-based movement to create realistic acting within an ensemble structure.This class has a rotating curriculum, so returning students will continue to be challenged. There will be a mixture of online activities, coaching sessions and offline activities for this class.

Ages 8-12 Musical Theatre

This class will explore vocal technique, choreography and acting skills. All skills needed to make you a “triple threat” will be integrated. This class has a revolving curriculum, so returning students will continue to be challenged. There will be a mixture of online activities, coaching sessions and offline activities for this class.
