“A CHRISTMAS CAROL” AUDITIONS FOR YOUNG ACTORS:

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Maryland Ensemble Theatre and The Fun Company produces “A Christmas Carol” annually. It is a professional theatre production that will be performed at The Weinberg Center for the Arts. The show requires actors to be available for daytime and evening performances the weekend prior to Christmas.

Seeking young actors (ages 7-17) to fill the following roles:

Tim Cratchit*– Male or female presenting. 8-12. Cratchit’s frail and very ill son who still believes in everything around him, despite his physical condition.

Ella Rose Cratchit*- Female presenting, 7-9. Cratchit’s youngest daughter.

Belinda Cratchit*-Female presenting, pre-teen. Cratchit’s younger daughter

Peter Cratchit*-Male, early teens. Cratchit’s oldest son, on the brink of adulthood but not quite there yet.

Martha Cratchit*- Female presenting. Cratchits oldest daughter, late teens or older and is a milliner’s apprentice. 

Fan*- Female presenting, pre-teen, Scrooge’s sister. Her warmth is such that she can make even Boy Scrooge’s saddest day better. 

Boy Scrooge*- Male presenting Scrooge as a young boy 8-12.

Turkey Boy– Female or Male presenting, young street wise kid with spunk.

Caroler- Female or male presenting young child. Will sing short carol.

Youth Ensemble– Female or male presenting teens who will narrate and perform ensemble duties in various scenes.

*The characters noted will be choreographed in moments of close familial relationships that will include hugging.

Please bring a photo/resume to be attached to audition sheet. Be prepared to do a cold read from the script. See link to sides below.

CASTING: There will be 2 casts of children/youth this year that will split the run of performances. Unlike our summer youth productions that generally try to cast all who audition, please be aware that there are only a limited number of roles to fill. This will make for some very difficult decision making for us. We know there may be some disappointments and for that we are very, very sorry!

REHEARSALS: This is a tentative rehearsal schedule, subject to change: Please be ready to have conflicts ready to include on audition sheet.
